Here are some zero-waste ideas to kick off January:
  1. Plan Your Meals: Reduce food waste by creating weekly meal plans, using up leftovers creatively, and freezing surplus portions for busy days.
  2. Declutter Sustainably: Donate, sell, or swap unwanted items rather than tossing them out.
  3. Switch to Reusables: Invest in reusable items like water bottles, coffee cups, and shopping bags to reduce single-use plastics. Replace plastic bags or paper towels with reusable alternatives.
  4. DIY Cleaning Products: Use natural ingredients like vinegar and baking soda to make eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Make your own eco-friendly cleaning products using common items like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils.
  5. Recycle Right: Check your local recycling guidelines and make sure holiday packaging, like wrapping paper and boxes, is disposed of properly.
  6. Repurpose Holiday Decor: Save wrapping paper, bows, and decorations for reuse next year or turn them into craft projects. Transform old Christmas cards into gift tags.
  7. Compost Your Tree: If you have a real tree, find out if your local area offers tree recycling or composting programs.
  8. Support Zero-Waste Shops: Refill your pantry with staples like grains, nuts, and oils at zero-waste stores using your own containers.
  9. Upcycle Old Clothes: Turn worn-out fabrics into cleaning rags or reusable bags.
  10. Support Local and Sustainable: Shop from local businesses and farmers that prioritise eco-friendly practices.

Starting the year with small, sustainable steps can make a big difference!
