Empty Egg Boxes, what to do???

Wracking my brain on what to do with my excess egg boxes, I came across this brilliant list of ideas, thanks to silversurfers.com. I hope it inspires you too!

Any green egg boxes I give to Shirley, who also collects our BPA receipts and compostable coffee cups, and turns them into handmade paper. Shirley has a Sustainable Art Exhibition on 9th May in Nenagh.

  1. Seed starter: You can use the egg carton to start seedlings. Just fill each section with soil and plant a seed.
  2. Sorting small items: The individual sections of the egg box can be used to organize small items like buttons, beads, or screws.
  3. Fire starter: You can use an egg carton as a fire starter. Just fill each section with dryer lint, sawdust, or shredded paper, pour melted wax on top, and let it cool.
  4. Paint palette: The egg carton can be used as a paint palette. Just pour small amounts of paint into each section and use it to mix colors.
  5. Cupcake carrier: An egg carton can be used as a makeshift cupcake carrier. Just place each cupcake in a section of the egg carton and close the lid.
  6. Drawer organizer: Use an egg carton to organize your drawers. You can cut it to fit the size of the drawer and use the sections to store small items like jewelry, socks, or underwear.
  7. Compost bin: An egg carton can be used as a mini compost bin. Just cut it up into small pieces and add it to your compost pile.
  8. Soundproofing: You can use egg cartons to soundproof a room. Just attach them to the walls or ceiling to help reduce noise.
  9. Packaging material: The egg carton can be used as packaging material to protect fragile items during shipping.
  10. Art project: An empty egg carton can be used as a base for an art project. Kids can use it to create sculptures or use the sections as paint cups.

Please send me your upcycling or zero waste ideas.
